My friend's Dad was the publican in the
seventies, a tough bugger who took no nonsense. The pub was always a solid
boozer. Along the side was the alleyway that was used for horses that pulled
the canal barges, the canal went through a tunnel at this point and the
horse went up the side of the rec and down this ginnel. As kids, we would
hang about and get a ride on a barge through the tunnel. |
