The Holly was situated on Lancaster Road. This pub closed in 2017 and has now been converted into a restaurant called Mediterranean At The Holly, which in turn has also closed. It was previously known as The New Holly.
Having closed in 2022, an application has now been submitted to demolish the pub and build six houses on the site. The pub could trace its history back to the 17th Century. A previous application was rejected last year on grounds that inadequate evidence had been submitted to prove that community use was unviable, and there were also access and house density issues. The pub had been on the market for 12 months with no interest. More objections to the application have been submitted.
