The Cyclists Arms
opened in 1871 on Lytham Road, closing in 1938. The building was one of
those destroyed on 23rd August 1944, along with the local primary school and
a cafe, when a B-24 Liberator of the USAAF crashed attempting to land at
nearby Warton Aerodrome. 61 people died, including 38 children.
