The Wheatsheaf

The Wheatsheaf was situated on Bridge Street. |

The original Wheatsheaf was built in the late 18th century
and demolished and its replacement built on the same site in the mid 19th
century.
This pub has also been demolished and the British Legion now stands on the
site. My great great grandparents William and Jane Topping were the
licensees of this pub in the mid to late 19th century. Their daughter
Margaret Lowe was given the licence after their retirement. She left there
in 1936. |
