The Castle was situated at 48 Gregson Lane. This pub was taken over by new owners c2004 and, after a strong fight to keep it open by locals failed, it was demolished and luxury houses built on the site. This pub had a bowling green attached which I played on a couple of times. Notice the Lion mild &bitter pumps and Slalom lager pump. Lion took over Workington brewery who brewed Slalom but when S&N took over Lion c1987 this lager was finished, for good unfortunately. Slalom D. was a very popular drink.
