Remember it well. I came as a student
in 1968 and was in digs in South road about 4 houses down. First night of
freshers week all students returned to the digs disillusioned with the
cheese and wine offering at university freshers events. All 12 of decided to
have a last pint or so at the little somebody had noticed next door. We all
gathered in the nice snug or lounge as the southerners called it. Very nice
it was too a sofa some comfy chairs table and rven a tv unheard of in those
days in a pub.
After 30 mins or so the landlord stuck his head round the door to ask if we
wouldn't mind going into the pub as his wife wanted to watch telly in their
sitting room. |
