Royal Oak

The Royal Oak was situated at 41 Church Street. This pub is now used as a Reuse charity centre.

A plaque on the wall of the pub reads: 'An original posting inn with stables and large land holdings used by the famous dialect writer Tim Bobbin as the base of his work "A View Of The Lancashire Dialect" . G.Stephenson the railway engineer is said to have lodged here during the building of the railway'.
