The Triton

The Triton was situated on Paradis Street.

I worked as a cocktail waitree/barmaid at the Triton in 1967/8. The landlord was a big Liverpool FC fan and the players held parties or get-togethers there. I had the pleasure of working those parties on several occasions and to this day I am still a fan of Liverpool FC. At the time I worked there I was around 19 years old.

My mum and dad were the landlords of the triton from 1965 until 1969. We had many famous people who used the pub. The Liverpool team used the pub on many occasions, dad used to travel with the boys, on their games. I used to work in the paddy’s bar we had some great nights and fantastic regulars I loved my time in Liverpool and still support Liverpool. My mum and dad were Norman and Jo Mee they are both gone now, YNWA still makes me cry and brings back so many wonderful memories.

Stephen Crick 1965 Remember Norman Mee taking over the pub when it opened. I think he came from The Angel in Northampton . One of the first pubs to have tank beer. He was a lovely man . I worked for Bass Managed House Division in Castle Moat House on Derby Square under Arthur Morgan and Barry Wolfenden . Alll must be well dead now , but happy memories when Liverpool was an important port. £5 5s 0d per week and luncheon vouchers , those were the days.!
