My Mother's great grandfather William Howard was the publican
there in 1851, 1861 and 1871. He lived there with his wife Mary and their
children. Charles, their son was my Mothers grandfather. |

I just read a message on this Pub by a
man and realised we are related. It was submitted 2011 so don't know if he
will read this or not. His mother and I have the same great great
grandfather William Howard who was publican from 1851 till 1871 and great
Grand father Charles Howard born in the Pub who was my grand mother Ethel
Howard's father. When I was young My husband and I went there when first
married. Its still there but a Nursery now. I am hoping the man who wrote
that reads this. |

My grandmother Louisa Howard, daughter
of Charles Howard, grand-daughter of the publican William Howard, was born
in the pub in 1884. So I too am related to the previous posters. My
grandmother, who died in Liverpool aged 91, was a staunch teetotaller and
lived a very hard life because according to family stories her father
Charles ‘drank away the profits’. |
