The Queens Vaults was situated on the corner of
Upper Parliament Street and Crown Street. I lived in this pub, which was
also known as The Madhouse, when my mother was landlady. |

My maternal grandparents were landlords
of this pub in the early 60’s. They lived above the pub in an apartment with
my aunt and uncle the layout of which I can recall in vivid detail. I was
about 6 at the time and after lunch closing time, my sister and I were
allowed into the bar which Is where I first saw a jukebox. The first song I
heard and became hooked on was Telstar by The Tornadoes. |
