Queens Vaults

The Queens Vaults was situated on the corner of Upper Parliament Street and Crown Street. I lived in this pub, which was also known as The Madhouse, when my mother was landlady.

My maternal grandparents were landlords of this pub in the early 60’s. They lived above the pub in an apartment with my aunt and uncle the layout of which I can recall in vivid detail. I was about 6 at the time and after lunch closing time, my sister and I were allowed into the bar which Is where I first saw a jukebox. The first song I heard and became hooked on was Telstar by The Tornadoes.
