The Hardys Well was situated at 257 Wilmslow Road. This pub was previously called The Birch Villa and closed in 2016.

The derelict pub, which was famous for having a poem by Lemn Sissay OBE (Chancellor of Manchester University since 2015, and official poet for the London 2012 Olympics) on one outside wall for 30 years, was badly damaged by fire on 24 May 2023, and was declared so unsafe it has been demolished.
