The Turnpike was situated at 520-522 Wilmslow Road. Formerly known as The Wellington it closed in 2018. The pub was on Camra's list of Historic Pub Interiors, listed as 'Two Star - a pub interior of outstanding national historic interest'. Originally a single room, it was extended into the premises next door in the early 1960s. It had been under the ownership of Sam Smith's Brewery since 1948.
