Edinburgh Castle

The Edinburgh Castle was situated at 17 Blossom Street.

This pub is shown on the 1849 Ordinance Survey map, apparently in its current configuration, but then it was known as The Old Edinburgh Castle, and I would estimate it was constructed in the early nineteenth century (the nearby Green Dragon, which burnt down c2000, was built 1794).
It was trading until the early 2000s, lastly and for many years with a West Indian landlord called Les'. The council CPO'ed it and it closed very shortly afterwards (as I predicted at the public inquiry).
