Seftons

Seftons was situated on Corporation Street. The pub originally opened as The Samuel Pepys but had to change it's name to The Isaac Newton following a complaint by Sam's Chop House. It later changed it's name to Seftons following a refurbishment - Seftons being the name of a pub that had in times past stood on part of the site now occupied by the Arndale. I have very happy memories of this place having worked behind the bar for a number of years and for a year or so being one of the DJ's working upstairs on Friday and Saturday nights. A stopping off point for many of the Arndale staff on their way home in the early evening and starting point for nights out to Pips and the rest of Manchester. One of the first pubs in town to have a video juke box, it was destroyed in the Manchester bombing of June 1996.
