The Smiths Arms was situated on Sharratt Street. The building dates from 18th Century when it would have been one of a number of similar residences before becoming a pub in 1827. It  survived as a pub into the early part of this century and still  stands as the oldest pub building in the Ancoats Conservation area. Now due to be converted into flats.
