Norman & Dora Wilkinson were licensees from about 1948 to 1955 when they moved on to the Railway Inn, Cross Lane Salford and subsequently in about 1972 to Seven Stars, Stalmine (Nr Blackpool) Lancs. On taking over the pub, as their first venture into the trade, they enthusiastically cleaned and breathed life into run down premises, including merrily demolishing upstairs walls to create a "function room." Fortunately the brewery became aware and pointed out that the room would be inadequately supported from below and likely to deposit its visitors into the bars below! Made an excellent play room, though for their son and his friends. Dart team & Football team. A part of Hobsons Choice, with John Mills, was filmed nearby. Suffered from the Irwell Salford floods when the cellars were flooded. (The beer stock was saved and "liberated" by a bunch of happy customers.)
