Ship Inn

The Ship Inn was situated on the corner of
Chapel Street and Victoria Bridge Street and was very popular with employees
of HMIT who then occupied what was Highland House. This pub was demolished
when Highland House was sold off to developers and turned into a Premier
Inn. |

I just came across this odd notice in the
Manchester Guardian for December 1st 1857---
Notice - If the cow left at the Ship Inn, Chapel Street, Salford on 1st
December 1858 be not taken away and all expenses paid within 14 days, she
will be sold to defray the same.
Perhaps that was the Victorian equivalent of forgetting where you’ve
parked your car after a night out! |
