My Great-great Grandfather, John Christopher Fletcher , born 16 Nov 1833 Manchester, lived at this address from at least 1871 until his death at this address, on 27 May 1874, aged 40, of alcoholism. Although his occupation was given as Commercial Clerk, on both his death certificate and in the 1871 census, (at this address), he was listed in the Directory in 1873 as a Beer Retailer. Interestingly, there is no mention of the Victoria Inn on the 1871 census being at this address, 39 Crowther St, Salford. The license for the Victoria Inn, 39 Crowther St, Salford, was transferred from John Christopher Fletcher to his wife Elizabeth by 6 Jan 1875. She remarried 2 Aug 1875 to John Yates Redford and had moved by 1881.
