I was a sr. wireless operator on U.S. B-29/B -50 aircraft
flying from HRH's Royal Air Force Station, Burtonwood. I was taken to
the Pelican. I can only say about the Pelican...it simply felt just
right. I knew I was a stranger, maybe unwelcome. The barman and many of
the regulars came to accept me. I had many happy hours there. It was
what I had thought a British pub would be like. I felt at home during
those hours, just a bloke in for a pint. |
