The Grey Mare was situated on Bolton Road.  In January 1976, my parents Jean and Alex Torrance took over the pub. I was 11 at the time. We left in September 1977. The pub was definitely haunted. Singing, vision of a man (whose cardigan remained) and I personally could sense someone watching me in the room just above where my mum had seen the man. There was a story about a previous landlord who drowned himself when his wife left him for a man who was working on the road outside. It was a customer who told us this after my mum described what the man looked like.
