King Of Prussia

The King Of Prussia was situated on Hallgate.

The King of Prussia Public house is still standing, although not as a public house unfortunately. I used to own the shop at 28a Hallgate, next door to what is now a chippy (No. 28). The chippy and my old shop used to be the King of Prussia PH. Plenty of features still survive upstairs in the building, and outside in the back yard, including the stables which now have been converted into a storage space that looks like a garage. ( I used to park my van in there!).

The license of the King of Prussia was transferred to the Colliers Arms on Frog Lane when the pub closed around 1914. They were owned by the Albion Brewery of Hardybutts, Wigan, and the initials 'AB' can still be seen in the brickwork of the Colliers Arms.
