The Ram Inn was situated at 56 Castle Street. This pub was present by 1835 when the publican was Edward Wright Tew who was described as a corn factor. It closed in the 1870s and was converted into a retail shop, trading as a clothier, jeweller and pawnbroker. The Ram Inn is referred to in a case of a stolen horse which was tried at the Old Bailey in 1815. The defendant tells of going to Hinckley fair on Whit Monday and then on to the "sign of the Ram"
