Bert and Alice Southcott, my aunt and uncle, were the last licencees and retired from there when the building was scheduled for demolition, together with others including the Leicester Mercury Presses building.
It was said that the last man to be hanged in the city was arrested in this pub...not verified though.
The couple retired to Soppett Street, Redcar, North Yorkshire before moving to Beverley and eventually passed away there.
