Barley Mow

The Barley Mow was situated on Market Street. This pub is now used as a cafe.
In 2018, the left-hand part of the ground floor (no 39B) opened as a music-orientated micropub, the CASK BAH.

Andy Skelton 1973-1985 Youthful long haired barman who worked for Frank and Audrey Bullock, and Jack Birch. Former Home Ales pub
Janet Dyer 1971-1999 Many happy memories!
John Dyer 1972-1988 The first pub I ever went in !! Actually at the age of 9 when I was left with John and Ann Jaques boxer dog in the back corridor, Vimto and crisps of course !! My first almost legal pint was granted by my my dad at the ripe age of 17 !! Frank and Audrey were licencees, Audreys father Arthur and brother Jack and Kimmy the singing dog all lived there from 1971 till around 1990.
James 1998-2002 I don’t really know why I have such fond memories of this place, but I do. It was always dead whenever I went in, but it reminds me of that oh so short period in my life when I didn’t have a care in the world and lived for going out with my mates and trying to pull women. It’s a real shame that I can’t nip in for a pint anymore.
