The Royal George was situated on The Croneries. This pub closed in 2014. A 1930s art deco building, it was demolished for flats despite being listed locally under officer delegation in 2018. Councillors in the Hastings Ward Anne Williams and Sarah Maynard Smith decided that the application should be dealt with by planning officers rather than a plans committee despite wide opposition to the plan.
