The Queen Inn was situated on The Butchery.
Present by 1791, this grade-II listed pub closed c1909 when it was owned by Hewitt Brothers and was converted to a
private house. Now an evangelical church, it was known as The Six
Bells until the 1840s. Present by 1791 when the publican was Ann Cox. |

Early C19. 3 storeys in red brick
with pantile roof. 3 flush windows, hung sashes with glazing bars, stone
lintels, slightly segmental arches, on 2 storeys. Ground floor has 1 similar
window and door of 6 panels, 2 glazed, blocked rectangular fanlight, stone
lintel. Also door of 4 panels, stone lintel, rectangular fanlight. Extension
to right has diagonal-set brick eaves cornice and pantile roof. 3-light
sliding rush window with glazing bars. Large garage door. |
