|
The Ram Hotel was situated at 59 Wide Bargate.
It closed in 1990, by which time it was known as The Aardvark, and has
now been converted into flats. There was a Ram Hotel on this site since
1564. The publican in 1896 was H Budge, in 1901
Charles Watts, and in 1919 Edwin Littlewood. The yard of the pub is now used
as a car park. |

This pub was owned by the Soulby,
Son & Winch brewery until 1951 when it was purchased by JW Green of Luton. |

Stayed at the Ram for a couple of weeks
when working close by building a commercial glass house. l remember a massive
St Bernard dog who would greet us every day by knocking me off my feet in
total delight to see a friend. This was in 1979-80. |
