The New Inn was situated on Spalding Road. The
publican in 1919 was John Coverley. |

This was a
grade-II listed Soames Brewery pub that was sold to Steward & Patteson
in 1949. The pub closed
on 30th October 1960 and has now been converted back to residential use. |

Listed
building details: |
Early C17. 2 storeys. Rubble,
rusticated quoins. Steep roof of stone slates. 2 stone capped gable end,
both with blocked circular windows. One canted 2-storey bay with 5-light
stone mullioned windows. Other windows are mullioned, with 3 lights and
modern casements. Circular window in gable end to right. 2 plain doors. To
rear, one storey wing has pantiles with modern fenestration,
has plaque "Thomas Dawkins Anno Domini 1666." |
