The Butchers Arms was situated at 14
Brand End Road and is now used as a private house. Only the front room of
this beerhouse was used. Owned by the Soulby, Son & Winch brewery. Present
by 1841 when the publican was Joseph Vaughan. |

The said ale house was once owned by my
great grandfather Joseph Vaughan with his wife Betsy. The Butchers Arms had
also a barn and out buildings as well as several arcs of land. Betsy ran the
ale house wile Joseph looked after the farm land attached to the ale house
as well as land down Doves Lane. They used to have auctions in the barn
manly for Eleys of Boston. Betsy later sold the ale house by auction after
Joseph. |
