Kings Head

The Kings Head was located on Church Street and closed by John Smith's brewery in 1973 since when it has been demolished to become a car park, in which the above plaque stands.
My Great Great Grandfather, John Fox, born 1791 at Blyborough, was the publican at the King’s Head in 1841.  In 1851 he was described as a “Late Victualler”, so presumably his tenure had ended by then.  I don’t have any other information on the King’s Head but I would love to hear from anyone who has.

We had our wedding reception here in March 1972, Mr & Mrs C Mathews owned the pub then.
