Railway Hotel

My father , Eric Wright , was the landlord of the Red Lion at Great Steeping from about 1955 to 1957; the brewery who owned it were Batemans of Wainfleet who are still very much on the go. He had to move on as there just was not enough custom in the small village to make a living.
He moved on to the Railway Hotel, Firsby around 1957 - 1958 . This move was literally just down the road to the next village. The village of Firsby was no larger than Great Steeping but did have a very busy railway station. I guess he was hoping to make a better go of this pub but the same thing happened and eventually the family sold up and we all moved back to Skegness which was where I was born.
