Garibaldi Inn

The Garibaldi Inn was situated at 56 Prospect Street. This pub was present by 1871 when the publican was William Marriott.
This pub was owned by the Soulby, Son & Winch brewery.

As an ex-pupil of Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School I am probably far from the first to report this sort of activity : Autumn 1964, Lower Sixth, lunch time, we used to take off our school blazers, put on our top coats and then climb over the gate from the sports field in order to visit The Garibaldi. Only a half of lager-and-lime, but a high-risk activity that could have got us expelled (but - as I would have hoped - simply a severe finger-wagging from the revered Head, P G Rowland).
Steve Commons (August 2011)
