Great Northern

The Great Northern was owned by the Soames Brewery and sold to Steward & Patteson in 1949. Following closure on 7th June 1961, this became a small general shop and fish & chip shop – Tommy Cowens. After the old railway line next to it was turned into new part of the A16, it was demolished and now there are residential properties built there. The publican in 1919 was James Bucknall.
