Three Horse Shoes

The Three Horse Shoes was situated on
Sheepgate, closing about 1962. I
remember going in long before I should have. It was the last ale-house (no
spirits licence) in Lincolnshire. The pub was demolished around 1980 and the
site is now a private house. There was a blacksmiths shop next door, run by
Mr Britton, who was gassed in the First World War. He and Mrs Britton also
lived at the pub. There was no bar - only some rooms with benches. The last
licensee, was a landlady, Mrs Rose Taylor, who went down to the cellar and
came back with a jug of beer - straight from the barrel. I think it was a
Batemans pub. |
