The Fighting Cocks was situated off
Drury Lane. This pub was constructed c1660 and named The Chirurgeons after
Dr Walker, the surgeon who had previously lived in a house on this site
which the inn had replaced. The inn was later renamed The Hare & Hounds and
still later renamed The Fighting Cocks because it contained a cock pit. It
was demolishg c1777 to make way for the city's first hospital |
