The Green Dragon was situated on
Broadgate. It was demolished in 1956 with the
next door building taking on the
Green Dragon name and licence. |
|
This original Green Dragon was a
brick building (partly rebuilt 1863) east of the current building apparently
licensed in or before 1735 to Thomas Bateman. Reputedly in 1737 the landlord
was arrested for holding goods stolen by Dick Turpin. This building was
removed in 1956 to accommodate the widening of Broadgate for the new Pelham
