The White Swan was situated on Main Road and is now a private dwelling.

The White Swan used to be a coaching inn on the Great North Road in Long Bennington.  The oldest part is well over 300 years old and may have been visited by Dick Turpin!   An upper room still has the original tongue and groove door with a sliding peephole - presumably to check whether friend or foe wanted to come in.  In the early 20th century, the pub was owned by the Melton Brewery, Grantham (which no longer exists.  If anyone has any info. on this I'd be pleased to hear).   Following a disastrous fire in the 1920's the White Swan was sold as a private residence.
