The Golden Fleece was situated at 14
Market Place. This grade-II listed pub was
present by 1775 and closed in 1936 when the licence was transferred to a pub
of the same name on Kidgate. It is now in retail use. |

building details: |
C18. 3 storeys, Pantile roof. 1st
and 2nd storeys rendered and colour-washed. 3 3-light windows, hung sashes
with glazing bars, to both of these floors, rusticated flat arch with
keystone. Ground floor has modern Woolworth shop front. Nos 13 and 14 form a
group. |
