The Axe & Handsaw was situated on New Road. This pub This pub was present by 1841 when the publican was Jas Trew. It was also known as The New Inn and is now in residential use.
 

The New Inn was one of ten pubs auctioned off by the Smith family of Gosberton in 1951. According to the Lincolnshire Standard of 1 December 1951, "Bidding started before a crowd of 100 at £12,000 . . . at £40,000 the properties were knocked down to Mr Sidney Motion of Sidney H & Graham Motion, on behalf of Messrs Morgan brewers of Norwich".
