The Anchor Inn was situated at 1 St Martins High
Street and is now used as a Pizza Express. |

I recall a Friday night session at the Anchor in
August 1975. None of us in the group were 18 but the landlady seemed
quite happy to take our money for about ten rounds before waltzing over to
our table just before closing time to ask us if we could " guarantee
that we were all 18".
We all said that we could which evidently seemed to satisfy her on the
point as she happily took the price of another round from us before we
left.
No fake I D required in those days.
