The Coach & Horses was situated 19 St Martins High Street. This pub was present by 1835 when the publican was John Simpson.  It originated as a 17th century L-shaped single storey building. In 1797 substantial alterations including a new stone street front were carried out by the new tenant George Betts under instructions from the landlord, the Earl of Exeter. The rear range contained stables and kitchens in 1797 but was raised in height and turned to domestic use in the 19th century. The interior includes a plaster floor in one first floor room.
