I lived in Leytonstone
from the early-1980’s until 1999, about 17 years. I visited all the pubs in
the area. I was told by Bill Hurley, lead singer with the Inmates, that he
had won a big talent night at the Lord Rookwood in the 1970’s. There was a
considerable cash prize for these shows, apparently the pub was well known
for these talent nights at the time. |

Sadly the Lord Rookwood
has NOT re-opened as of 13 April 2017 as the prospective owners have
encountered problems buying the pub. It is still very much boarded up and
closed. |
