The Earl Of Essex was situated at 616 Romford Road. This grade-II listed pub
was built by Henry Poston and WE Trent in 1902. The upper floors are now in
residential use.

The Earl was a Courage pub and
popular with the local Irish community. Before the arrival of satellite TV
they used to have videos of Irish hurling and gaelic football games sent
over from Dublin to show in the pub. |
