The Rose & Crown was
situated at 17 Pennyfields.
This pub was present by 1869 and was
rebuilt in its
present form following the 1934 slum-clearances in this area. It
was a Watney’s Brewery pub, best known for the period in the 1970s and early
1980s when it was run by Queenie Watts, a jazz singer and TV actress. The
pub was closed and converted to residential use in 2000 and is
now home to a restaurant. |
