The Tidal Basin Tavern was situated at 31 Tidal
Basin Road, closing in 1997. |

This pub dates back to the 1860. It had to closed in the late
1990s due to severe structural problems but the building was still there in
2010. |

The earliest date I have for this pub is 1862. It was a Truman’s pub, known
in the 1970s as a strippers pub by day and a live music venue by night,
always, it seems, a bit of a rough house. It was acquired by Fullers
Brewery in around 1990 and moved a little more up-market, but this new
incarnation was not to last very long. |

This pub has now been demolished. |

When berthed in the Vic dock, this pub along with the
Connaught at the other end of the dock and the British Flag, in the
middle, so to speak, gave us plenty to choose from. I do recall the
Basin was a particularly noisy one, lots of heavy metal and rock bands
performing there in later years. Gone now, two enormous towers going up
on the site. |
