Royal Oak

The Royal Oak was situated at 83 Woodman Street. This Truman’s Brewery pub was present by 1872 and boasted some very fine Truman’s tiled signage, still visible today.  Second World war bombing resulted in the loss of the upper floors but, amazingly, it carried on as a single storey pub, later completely surrounded by redevelopment.  The pub eventually closed in late 2010 or early 2011.
