Bell Inn

The Bell Inn was situated at 134-135 Shoreditch High Street. There had been a Bell Brewhouse in Shoreditch from as early as 1617, initially on the east side of the road.  Although still brewing in 1811, by 1817 it was described as a ‘former brewhouse’ and was occupied by a coal merchant.  But by 1825 there was a Bell Inn on the west side of Shoreditch High Street, and it seems likely that there was at least some sort of connection between the two.  By 1905, this pub was selling Worthington’s beers, and it continued as a pub until at least 1934.  The premises are now used as a shoe shop
