Bull & Pump

The Bull & Pump was situated at 72 Shoreditch High Street. This pub is now used as a sports bar.

I was born here in 1938.  My grandfather Alfred Thomas Law, was the publican. My mother, his daughter, is still alive.

My father was the owner of this pub from November 1962 to May 1964. I was 16/17 years old at the time. I remember it did a good lunchtime trade but quieter in the evening. The older customers used to come in, for a warm I think, and sit with a half pint of Guinness all night. Welcome of course.
This is where I was when the television in the bar announced that President Kennedy had been assassinated.
