The City Of Carlisle was situated at 61 Royal
Mint Street.
Although this pub
is of 1800s appearance, it bears a stone with the date 1620 – possibly the
date the pub was established, although I have not found any early records.
It was certainly here by 1806. For a brief while in the 1850s, this pub was
renamed the Blue
Peter, before reverting to the City of Carlisle name. By the 1920s this was
a Truman’s Brewery pub. It has now been converted to restaurant use. |
|
Now used as the Simmons Bar. |
Colin Price (April 2016). |
