My great grandfather
Herbert Downes ran this pub at the start of the 20th century. My Mother used
to sit on the bar and play the harmonica when she was young , and my Father
used to go there because he fancied my Mother. He was a non drinker at the
time, but he had to drink something in the pub, So he started on the
alcohol. They were married in September 1928. |
